ARTANKARA / Contemporary Art Fair co-located with Design Ankara / Industrial Design Fair has opened its doors to the art-lovers between March 11-15, 2015 at Congresium Exhibition Center.
The pre-opening ceremony and cocktail accompanied with the classic music gathered more than 1500 guests including collectors and Mass Media on March 10, 2015. The protocol and foreign mission members including the Ambassadors of the USA and Islamic Republic of Iran have mentioned that the fair is being realised for the first time even though it has the great expectations in order to be included to the international art calendar in the near future. After welcome speech of Mr. Bilgin Aygul the Chairman of the Board of ATIS Fairs Company, Prof. Dr. Kaya OZSEZGIN and Prof. Dr. Suleyman Saim TEKCAN members of the Advisory Committee have delivered a speech by emphasizing the importance of organisation of Art Fair in Ankara this year and the needed support to be shown for its further realisation. The guests also noted that in spite of the fact that the fair is realised for the first time the galleries, the artists, the art-works and the venue are very well chosen. On March 11, 2015 the official opening ceremony has been realised in the presence of the distinguished guest Mr. Nurettin OZDEBIR the President of the Ankara Chamber of Industry. Mr. Ozdebir has emphasized the importance of Ankara as one of the pioneer cities in the field of design which will consolidate its position by strengthening the bonds with industrials. Mr. Victor Tvircun the Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) has mentioned his intention to put maximum efforts in order to attract galleries from all 12 BSEC country members to participate at Art Ankara fair next year. More than 5000 visitors have visited ARTANKARA and DESIGN ANKARA fairs on the first day.
The art event which have not been organised in Ankara for years has demonstrated once again the demand and the interest shown by the art-lovers to the fair. Numerous art-works of the famous artists have been exhibited at the fair on behalf of the galleries.
On March 11, the fair program accompanied by the piano performance was composed of the following conferences: ’’Museums of Fine Arts in Turkey and Worldwide and IMOGA Museum’’ by Prof. Dr. Suleyman Saim TEKCAN; ”Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu and Memories Dedicated to his Art-works’’ by Prof. Dr. Aydın AYAN, ’’Art Education and Art Environment in Turkey’’ by the artists İsmail ACAR and Hikmet CETINKAYA.
On March 12, the following panels and talks took place: ‘’Art Markets’’ by art writer Celal Binzet, art consultant and writer Halilhan DOSTAL, ’’Art as a Cultural Politics and Art of Paradigm’’ by Prof.Dr.Zafer GENCAYDIN and Prof. Tansel TURKDOGAN.
On March 13, the following conferences took place: ’’Digital Art’’ by Hamdi Telli, ’’Copyrights in Art Works’’ by Lawyer Unsal PIROGLU and Specialist from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Ms. Sukriye SIRIN.
On March 14, ’’A Sweep Art Performance’’ by Ekrem Kadak has been demonstrated. During the same day the conferences ’’Who is an Artist? What Artworks mean?’’ by Prof.Dr.Bedri KARAYAGMURLAR; ’’Art Collections’’ by the architect Kadri ATABAS and Art Critic Ibrahim KARAOGLU took place.
On March 15, panel ’’The Language of Photography and Art’’ by Prof.Dr.Adnan ATAC, İbrahim GOGER, Tugrul CAKAR, Prof.Dr.Tamer KIRAL took place.
