ARTANKARA 4th International Contemporary Art Fair was held at ATO Congresium on the area of 10 thousand sqm between 14-18 March, 2018.

More than 110 galleries, museums, universities, institutions and art initiatives participated in 4th edition of ARTANKARA, where was attended paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and conceptual art. Average 43 thousand people visited the fair where were exposed more than 3000 art works of 650 artists from 37 countries. On March 14, after VIP preview at ARTANKARA Opening Ceremony were given 3 awards. “Award for Contribution to the Art” has been given on behalf of Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Huseyin Yayman to Nilay Ayaz, manager of Mustafa Ayaz Foundation Plastic Arts Museum as our gratitude to their contribution to the art. ARTANKARA 2018 “Honorable Artist Award” has been given on behalf of Kiymet Giray to Yasemin Kasapci Devrimci, daughter of the famous artist of Turkey Gencay Kasapçı, who passed away last year, and on behalf of Kursat Tuzmen to one of the famous artists of Turkey Turan Erol.

Within the scope of Solo Shows during the fair took place exhibitions of such artists as Tomur Atagök, Bubi, Devrim Erbil, Zarko Jakimovski, Marat Bekeyev, Ertuğrul Ates, Turan Erol, Gencay Kasapçı and Fikret Otyam. Bubi and Bedri Baykam met art lovers within the scope of autograph sessions.

“The Misplaced Child” exhibition, curated by Ufuk Uyanık was held for the first time in Turkey at ARTANKARA as a social responsibility project. All budget collecting during the fair was funded for refugee children to People’s Bridge Association.

The scope of special projects of this year, “contemporary art meets glass” exhibition was held by Art Gallery of the Odunpazarı Municipality, Cam Ocağı Foundation, Friends of Glass Group. “Refugee children and women speak with eyes. Common Language” photography exhibition displayed works, which was taken right before the rescue operation of ISID by famous Iranian journalist and photographer Maryam Mazrooei in Mosul in 2016. The exhibition of “Ah, Ankara” is a project of sensitivity and awareness and prepared by Füsun Kavalcı, the exhibition of ‘Ah, Ankara’ is something we like to say we have suffered, we will or we should not about Ankara. ‘GREEN WAVE’ project was presented by Alarm-Art as the main body of everything they will do to create a green wave in their art lives and to turn all the light and opportunities to the green and extinguish the red light to the friends who promised to keep a certain level in human relations, a certain speed and quality in production, for the artists who are looking for the channels of expressing themselves while waiting for it under the red light.

More than 30 art conversations, workshops and art performances which took place during the ARTANKARA had intense interest by visitors As a part o fairs parallel activities of the fair this year between the dates of 15-18 March 2018, visitors of ARTANKARA were able to visit the Mustafa Ayaz Museum, the Erimtan Museum, the Chess Museum, the Republic of Turkey Painting and Sculpture State Museum, the Pink Mansion Ismet Inönü Museum House, the Evliyagil Museum and the Rahmi Koç Museum.

ARTANKARA became the “meeting point” of citizens of Ankara for four days with the most exclusive examples of contemporary art and other activities.
